Mac Agent - SolarWinds N-Central Installation
Introduction
You can follow this article to install the macOS Blackpoint SNAP-Defense agent to your customer network using Solarwinds N-Central tool. We've broken down the installation into the following steps:
- Copying the SNAP Agent URL
- Deploying the agent using
- Verify Mac Agent Deployed successfully.
Prerequisites
- Your Mac Must be Running macOS 10.15 or later
Instructions
Copying the Mac Agent URL
- From the Blackpoint Partner Portal, navigate to the Blackpoint Add-Ons Portal.
- From the customer switcher, select the customer for Mac agent deployment.
- Navigate to Install and Deploy from the navigation menu in the Blackpoint Add-Ons Portal.
- Download macOS Setup Script.
Deploying the agent using N-Central

Log into your instance of SolarWinds N-central and select the customer you are deploying to in the top left drop-down.
- On the left menu expand “Actions” and then click “ Run a Mac Script".
- a Task Name at the top of the page. Ensure “Use Root Credentials” is checked and set the “Location” drop-down to “From My Computer”. Provide a “Name” and “Description” and then click “Browse” to upload the shell script you downloaded in the previous section. The “File Name:” field and “Command Line Parameters:” fields should autofill.

Click the “Targets” tab and select the Mac devices that you wish to deploy the Blackpoint agent to.
- On the “Schedule” tab set the “Type:” drop-down to “Now”. Optionally you can use the “Notifications” tab to receive a notification if the task fails or succeeds.
- Click the green “Save” button in the lower left corner. N-Central will now redirect you to the Scheduled Tasks page and begin to run the script on the selected devices.
Verify deployment has been successful;
- Open SNAP-Defense in your web browser
- Select Customer using the drop-down selection list
- Navigate to the "Collection" menu in SNAP-Defense and confirm your Mac shows in the device list Additionally, you can navigate to the "Network" menu and ensure the device shows in the network map
- Additionally, navigate to the “Network” menu to check if the device shows in the network map
You've successfully deployed the Mac Agent to your customer's network.
